  • Blawza – Annoubine Hike through History and Heritage

    Annoubine is a stunning region that never fails to captivate, which is why we return time and time again. This hike, suitable for all levels, is 9 kilometers long with gentle downhill sections and no steep ascents, offering breathtaking views throughout.

    Our Level 4 hike begins in the village of Blawza, passing by St. Marina Monastery, which houses the tombs of eighteen patriarchs. We’ll also hear the story of St. Marina, who entered the Annoubine Monastery disguised as a monk.

    Next, we’ll visit Deir Saydet Annoubine, one of Lebanon’s oldest monasteries, built between 379 and 395, and known for its 16th and 17th-century murals. The monastery, renovated in 1990, is now run by the Antonine Sisters.

    We will then pass by old houses on our way to the charming village of Freidis, where you can purchase local products such as eggs, Labneh, and cheese.

    Lunch will be served at a scenic spot near ancient ruins, followed by a rest stop before returning to Beirut.
