  • Hardine Hike – Discover the Village of Saint Naamtallah El Hardini

    Situated in the middle part of Batroun Casa, North Lebanon, Hardine is a quiet and peaceful village that preserves its typical Lebanese architecture with old houses and red roofs. Nestled in a valley, Hardine is home to 36 churches and convents and is the birthplace of Saint Naamtallah El Hardini.

    Notable landmarks:
    • Roman temple on the upper hill, offering views of the Mediterranean Sea to the west and the Tannourine cedar forest to the east.
    • Rocky Tile of Hardine: 350m long, 100m wide, containing numerous marine fossils.
    • Historical note: Eleven of Hardine’s young men tragically drowned in the Titanic disaster of 1912.

    Hike Details:
    • LEVEL 3 – Easy:
    o Explore old village trails and roads.
    o Visit the old churches and the house where Saint Naamtallah was born.
    o Enjoy shaded green areas and preserve the village’s natural atmosphere.
    • LEVEL 6 – Moderate:
    o Start with a 2-hour uphill walk to the Roman temple (requires good physical condition).
    o Rest and take photos at the temple with panoramic views.
    o Descend while visiting a hidden old convent among the trees.

    End of Hike:
    • Both levels meet at the end of the hike.
    • Enjoy a homemade lunch prepared for the group before returning to Beirut.

    MEETING TIME: 8:00 AM. Departure at 8:15 AM sharp.

    There will be a breakfast stop along the way.
