Hiking Trip - Baloua Baatara Douma Hike - Batroun District

    Balaa is famous for its spectacular natural sinkhole, sculpted by water over 160 million years, plunging 250 meters deep. During winter and spring, a dramatic waterfall flows inside the chasm, with mist rising back to the surface. Known internationally as Baloua Baatara, the site features three natural stone bridges hidden within its depths, making it one of Lebanon’s most impressive natural wonders and a true must-see.
    We will begin our day at the Balaa sinkhole, taking time to admire the site, explore the area, and capture memorable photos.

    Level 6 – Challenging Trail (Balaa to Douma)
    • Steep but short uphill ascent at the start
    • Followed by downhill and flat sections
    • Panoramic views over Douma and surrounding landscapes
    • Walk along Sikket el Sham, the ancient route linking Tripoli, Douma, Baalbeck, and Damascus
    • End of the hike in Douma
    Level 3 – Easy Trail (Feghre to Douma)
    • Gentle downhill walk
    • Scenic and accessible route ending in Douma

    Discover Douma
    Nestled in a mountain valley, Douma is known for its red-brick houses, fresh climate, and fertile land rich in olive, vine, and apple trees. Its name, of Phoenician origin, means “quiet, peaceful, and restful.” The town is home to remarkable archaeological remains, including a 4th-century sarcophagus, ancient millstones, and old oil presses.

    After a walk through the village and its main square, both groups will reunite for a traditional lunch, prepared by local artisans.

    MEETING TIME: 8:00 AM. Departure at 8:15 AM sharp.

    There will be a breakfast stop along the way.

    PRICE: $70 per person including transport, guides, insurance, reserve entrance and lunch.
