  • Rachaya El Wadi Hike – A Journey Through Heritage and History

    Rachaya El Wadi is a town rich in history and heritage, known for its ancient monuments, including the Citadel of Independence and the oldest church in the region, Mar Moussa al Habashi, a Syriac-Catholic church. Situated at the foothills of Jabal El Cheikh (Hermon Mountain), Rachaya is famous for its red-tile-roofed stone houses.

    Hike Overview:
    • Starting Point: “Emm Chratit” tree, where you can hang a wish and explore the village.
    • Village Tour: Visit key sites including:
    o Public garden
    o Old souk
    o Orthodox monastery
    o Citadel of Independence
    o Mar Moussa al Habashi Church

    Hike Levels:
    • Level 3: - Moderate trail, suitable for beginners
    - Return by bus after exploring the village
    • Level 5: - Challenging trail, exploring the beautiful streets and agricultural landscapes of the village
    - Hike back to meet the rest of the group
    Lunch:
    • Village Style Meal: A Women’s Association will prepare a delicious, nutritious meal made from local, natural ingredients.
    • Support Local Communities: An opportunity to support rural areas by purchasing homemade food products to take home.
