Hiking Trip - Menjez Hike - Akkar District

  • Menjez – Hidden Treasures of Akkar

    This time, we're heading to one of the most majestic villages in the Akkar region — Menjez, a place whose name comes from Aramaic, meaning “Buried Treasure.” Located on Lebanon’s northern border with Syria, Menjez is rich in history, culture, and stunning landscapes.

    What to Explore:
    • Tombs dating back over 7,000 years
    • St. Daniel’s Church (250 years old)
    • Ancient homes built from black volcanic stone
    • The impressive "Temple of God" (Beit Jal’ouk) — a Roman citadel from 100 BC, later used by Greeks and Crusaders
    • Nabe’ Jal’ouk, Saydet Mou’een, and the beautiful Menjez River

    Hiking Levels:
    • Moderate Level – ~9 km trail
    • Easy Level – ~6 km trail (Both routes will allow you to explore the village’s remarkable sites).

    After the Hike:
    • Meet back at the main village square for a homemade traditional meal, lovingly prepared by local women
    • Browse and shop for local products from the village
    • Final stop at Saydet el Kalaa, where we’ll enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over northern Lebanon and into Syria
