Wine & Arak Tour! - Wine & Arak Tour! - Bekaa Valley

  • Our monthly wine tours have been one of our most sought after events of every month. But this time, we thought we would add a little twist to our wine tour and make it just a little different. You will have the chance to indulge in both wine and arak tasting.

    Arak, also called ‘the milk of lions’, is the national alcoholic drink of Lebanon. It is given this nick-name because of its highly potent character. This colorless spirit is anis flavored, and turns to a milky-white liquid after water and/or ice are added. It is much sought after by those who indulge in good food, good mood and the Mediterranean joie de vivre.

    In this event, we will visit three important Wine & Arak factories.

    We will start our tour by a visit to Domaine Des Tourelles. This Winery is the Winner of many international awards, and is the second oldest winery, founded by Francois-Eugène Brun in 1868. Nothing but a visit to its yellow stone and cedar wood cellars can begin to unravel the mystery of this age-old family estate.

    There we will have the privilege of tasting all of the wine types they have to offer, as well as their own Arak Brun, which is widely renowned by the Arak experts and is considered as one of the first and most important brands of Arak in Lebanon.

    Our next stop will be at Château Nakad. The story of Château Nakad is first and foremost that of a family of three generations of winemakers from the Bekaa Valley, whose blood runs with passion for soil, wine, and grapes. More importantly, the winery is built on the remains of wine cellars dating back to the Bronze Age.

    We will have a quick tour of the winery, and then get introduced to the proper method of tasting guided by Mr. Jalal Nakad, an expert in this domain. At Nakad, we will get to taste their different wines, as well as their own brand of arak called Arak Al Samir. This family run winery is surely not to be missed.
    The last stop will be in Château Heritage, an exquisite winery in which the owner Mr. Dargham is the ex-president of Qabb Elias and a loyal friend of Vamos Todos. At this winery, we won’t only have a wine tasting, we will as well have a cognac tasting. It will occur directly from the cave. Your taste buds will go crazy after tasting high quality products right from the winery.
    After such a delightful experience in our prestigious wineries, it will be time for lunch. We will be visiting Khan El Maksoud, located within the Taanayel eco-lodge. This lodge was built to resemble a typical Bekaa village, with houses made of mud bricks arranged around a central green courtyard. It will be the perfect way to conclude our tour.

    PRICE: 60$ per person including transport, wine tasting, guides, insurance and lunch.

    WHAT TO GET: Light snacks that will boost up your energy such as dried fruits, water, cap, sunglasses and sunscreen. Wear comfortable shoes such as hiking shoes and always keep a windproof jacket in your backpack.

    SPECIAL RATES:
    - Children with the age of 10 and younger will have a discount of 5$.
    - Children/ Teenagers between the age of 11 and 18 will have a discount of 4$.
    - University students will have a discount of 3$ provided that they present their university card.
    - Groups with 5 to 9 persons, with different criteria than the above, will get a 2$ discount.
    - Groups with 10 or more persons, with different criteria than the above, will get a 3$ discount.

    PAYMENT TERMS:
    - Cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged half-price.
    - Reservations with less than 24 hours’ notice will be charged an extra 2$.
    (e.g. Cancelling or booking for a Sunday’s event on Saturday will be subject to the above terms).

    ESSENTIAL ECOTOURISTIC RULES & REGULATIONS
    - Smoking is strictly prohibited during the event
    - Always follow the guide on the designated trail
    - Do not go off road without notifying the guide
    - Do not get close to a cliff especially when the guide in charge tells you not to do so
    - Although accidents are covered by the insurance but they remain under the responsibility of the member
    - Sometimes, due to reasons beyond our control, slight modifications to the program may occur. Ecotourism rules must be followed, otherwise personal accidents will not be accounted for by the insurance.
