Hiking Trip & Wine Tasting - Bechouat and Deir El Ahmar Wine Tasting and Hike - Baalbek district

  • True to form, our ventures into Bekaa never fail to amaze. This time, our exploration leads us to the illustrious town of "Deir Al Ahmar," nestled within the Baalbeck district.
The name "Deir Al Ahmar" carries multiple interpretations, yet it is particularly resonant within the Maronite community, where locals believe it hails from the Syriac term "Deir Ohmor," translating to the "Monastery of the Lord's Brother."

Our voyage will blend a spiritual pilgrimage, breathtaking landscapes, and a vivid array of experiences.

Our day sets sail with a visit to the famed and miraculous "Lady of Bechouat," also known as "Saydet Bechouat," a revered monastery and sanctuary. "Saydet Bechouat" has garnered renown across different faiths owing to divine miracles that have graced this hallowed site.

The hiking expedition will be divided into two tiers: Level 3 (7 km) and Level 5 (12 km). Following the sanctuary visit, we will embark as one onto a splendid path, offering panoramic vistas of the Bekaa's sprawling plains, coupled with an awe-inspiring view of Lebanon's three loftiest summits: Qornet al Sawda, Jabal al Shaikh, and Sannine.

Our route will lead us to a rosary-inspired fence, poised to become the world's largest illuminated rosary. Visible even from the heavens, this rosary is poised to invigorate religious tourism within Lebanon and its surrounding region.

Post our immersive encounter with the rosary, our trajectory will direct us to "Cave Rouge," a boutique winery, where you'll have the unique opportunity to savor an exquisite assortment of wines. The two tiers will part ways after our winery visit.

Level 3 will venture into the heart of the village, with a focus on WADA - the Women’s Association of Deir Al Ahmar.

Level 5 will traverse a more extended trail across the village's plains, offering enchanting vistas for the eyes to behold.
Both tiers will reconvene at WADA, where local women have thoughtfully prepared a traditional lunch to cap off our experience.
